Hey TRUNG, Every month, I get at least a dozen emails asking me about how to best use the focus keyphrase in WordPress to improve SEO rankings. This past week, I was in Orlando with a friend, and he asked me the same question. He was frustrated because he thought he was optimizing his blog posts correctly, but his competitor kept outranking him. This problem is so common that I have given it a name -- I call it "the lying green light" issue. SEO is not about red light, yellow light, or green lights. This is why when I was building AIOSEO, I asked my team to specifically avoid the lying green light, and instead use a 0 - 100 score which offers more context. But ultimately the problem always start with the choice of Focus Keyphrase. To help everyone improve their SEO rankings, I have created the beginner's guide on how to properly use SEO focus keyphrase in WordPress. It includes tips on how I find keyword ideas and use multiple focus keyphrases to gain a competitive advantage. One final note on this -- most smart SEO plugins / tools have already switched to using SEO scores to help their users avoid the lying green light problem. I have been closely involved in building the TruSEO score that All in One SEO plugin (a.k.a AIOSEO) has in the free version, and I highly recommend switching to it especially if you're using another legacy SEO tool that doesn't have the scores.
