i had this happen in sf (next to the original ghirardelli), where i opened my trunk to take out my camera. when i returned to my car the rear window was broken and someone climbed into my trunk to take my laptop bag. they didn't touch the camera bag (which still contained a few lens and a gopro) and my windows are super tinted so i assume someone was watching us get out of the car and saw the contents in the trunk.

that's what i also asked the op of the costco sunnyvale thread.

if the trunk was ever opened after being parked, esp. if something was transferred into the trunk, someone could've been someone watching the whole time. that could make that car a likelier target.
